When you hear that voice in your head saying “Do this!” or “Don’t do that,” who’s speaking?
Usually, for me, it’s one of my parents or maybe a teacher, maybe a guru. Sometimes, it’s my inner child, still trying to run the show.
Navigating the thought-world can be complex, especially when it comes to deciding what we believe. Once we’ve established a value and stand on a belief, invariably, if we are a growing, thinking person, something comes along to challenge the very belief we thought we would hold for a lifetime.
In my case, it has been my beliefs around religion and spirituality that have changed dramatically over time.
What about you?
This Writer’s Idea Box exercise will help you process some of what you believe in writing. It may be challenging, so give yourself some space and a little slack. But, forge ahead. You’ll be glad you did.
