Interview with photographer Esther van Overbeek

“suspended in silence” used with permission of the photographer: Esther van Overbeek

You may recognize this image as the cover image of my newest collection of poetry, book of common breath. Isn’t it simply stunning?

I am indebted to Netherlands photographer Esther van Overbeek who agreed to let me use the image. Thank you, Esther!!!!!

Another of her images graces the cover of purifying wind (out of print), an anthology I edited a few years ago. I have a few copies on hand if you’re interested.

Here’s that image:

I wanted to thank Esther by introducing you to her in a little more personal way, so I asked her a few questions (in writing) and she sent the following note as a response.

I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I have and that you’ll check out and promote her work on her website and on social media!

  1. Her photos are amazing. I especially love the one on the cover of purifying wind. Thanks for sharing. As a photographer myself (albeit still learning), I enjoyed reading her interview, too.

    • Thank you for reading and commenting, Lori! It makes me happy to share Esther’s work with the world,
especially photographers who really get what she’s doing!
