The Art of Writing: Spring Workshops

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.

please note:

These workshops are holding, with the next one of three left to resume mid-May, assuming all is well and it is safe to do so. There are still two seats left for which you can register below.

I’m offering a series of writing workshops from my home studio in Bulverde, Texas this spring!

I’ve been teaching this series at the Patrick Heath Public Library for the past year and will continue there through March plus I’ll be teaching for the Sol Center in San Antonio in April. And all of this is super cool, but I think it would be even more exciting to offer workshops from my very own studio! You know. The place where everything happens!

quilt making: my second one at the request of g-son number two
treasuring precious gifts: smudging feathers from Taos; goddess icon from my son; cat book end from my mom’s cat (figurines & felines!) collection; an art book from a former student; open hand from my daughter and on and on and on these things surround and uphold me in my work

If you live in or within driving distance of the Hill Country, come join us for some writing fun! We’ll explore various genres, including poetry, memoir, short fiction and more, focusing especially on writing as practice and process.

In each session, facilitator, d. ellis phelps, will provide lessons on and writing samples of various genres and give writing prompts for practice. Participants will discuss samples, write original work, share (as desired) and give soft critique. Opportunities to share writing work-in-progress & receive facilitator and group feedback will be given as the need arises and as time allows.

Adult writers of all levels are welcome. Participants may attend any or all of each stand-alone session.

In writing groups there tends to be a synchronicity that works to feed the creative process, inspiring and spawning more writing, especially because your writing com padres can act as an immediate, intimate audience with whom to share your work and give valuable feedback .

Sessions begin Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 1-3PM and will be ongoing monthly on the third Wednesday through May. Class size is limited to six participants & at this writing, one spot is already taken! Your paid $20 per session tuition holds your spot. Click the handy “Buy Now” button below to reserve your spot for one or more sessions! Contact me for more info…
